The episode of KBS’ variety show ‘Moonlight Prince’ that aired on the 19th showed Max Changmin looking helpless when a child burst into tears because of him.
On this day, a segment of the episode had the MCs answering questions about ‘Charlotte’s Web’, the book chosen by guest stars Lee Jae Ryong and Lee Hoon. The viewers who came out to present the questions were none other than cute children.
Five-year-old Jeon Ji Won asked, “How many sections do Charlotte’s legs have?” and though this was the exact question that Lee Jae Ryong had predicted during the tutoring session ahead of the quiz, Max Changmin had said, “Psh, I’m sure that won’t come out in the quiz.”
Because of this, Changmin didn’t know the answer to the question and gave a silly response instead, causing the audience to burst out in peals of laughter.
However, because Max Changmin wasn’t able to answer the question in one try, Jeon Ji Won couldn’t receive a prize. The child looked angry as she shouted, “The answer is seven!” and began glaring daggers at Max Changmin.
Kang Ho Dong tried to calm her down as he said, “She must be really angry…” but Jeon Ji Won seemed to be extremely upset as she burst into tears.
Max Changmin gave her a hug and tried to soothe her, but she wouldn’t stop crying, resulting in Max Changmin getting on his knees to beg for forgiveness.
When Jeon Ji Won stopped crying, Kang Ho Dong said, “Cheer up. Give him a hug,” and she gave Max Changmin a hug, eliciting a smile from the viewers.

[NEWS] 1300130 KBS ‘Moonlight Prince’ sells out all commercial slots
Although the show began airing just two weeks, ago, it managed to sell all of its advertising slots based on the heavy trust placed on its main MC. “I think the ‘Kang Ho Dong’ effect was in play here,” said a KBS staff member. “The trust and success rate of the main MC meant very much.”
All of Kang Ho Dong’s previous programs have followed in a similar vein, with commercial slots selling out fast, including ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ and ‘Star King‘.
The theme of ‘Moonlight Prince’ seems to have played a role, as well. The show revolves around a quiz show based on a particular book for the episode chosen by the guest, with all proceeds from the quiz going towards a charity of the guest’s choice. “Since the show has a positive effect through charitable donations, it has a high appeal among advertisers,” said a representative for the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.

On the first episode, Changmin made people laugh by misreading the sentence in a book as, “My breasts are small.” He also made the entire crew laugh out loud by talking about men’s nose on the second episode.
The second episode was recorded on January 23 with guest Kim Soo Ro. The audience gives the cast members some quiz base on a book and the members talk about their family and history.
When Changmin said that men’s nose speaks for men themselves, the other five members started inquiring him by saying, “Where did you hear that?” Changmin seemed embarrassed and said, “I mean nose is the most important thing in human’s face because it’s place in the center.”
The production crew said, “Changmin is reading books even though he is busy. He makes people laugh because he is too much into it. His professionalism and cute image as the youngest member will make the show more enjoyable.”
The show is a variety book talk show emceed by Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Jung Jae Hyung, Brave Brothers, and Changmin. The second episode will air on January 29 at 11:10 p.m.

According to Nielsen Korea on the 23rd, ‘Moonlight Prince’ recorded 5.7% viewer ratings on the 22nd. The program came in at 3rd place after the other programs that aired at the same time, SBS’ ‘Strong Heart’ (9.1%) and MBC’s ‘PD Notebook’ (6.1%).
‘Moonlight Prince’ is a book-based talk show that has Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Jung Jae Hyung, Brave Brothers and Max Changmin as MCs. Every week, the guest chooses a book and the theme of the talk is based on the chosen book. The guest of the first episode was actor Lee Seo Jin.
Though the viewer ratings weren’t that high for the first episode, the show has been receiving positive reviews for its format that uses books to create conversations between the guests and MCs and form a connecting bond.
