TVXQ’s Yunho reveals he almost gave up becoming a singer
TVXQ‘s Yunho confessed that he almost gave up becoming a singer because of some medical issues that he had.
Yunho and Changmin attempted a relay lecture while filming for KBS 2TV‘s
‘Do Dream‘. Yunho titled his lecture ‘Dreams do not abandon you‘, and
started by saying “My maternal family comes from a singing background. I
inherited those skills and received awards at vocal competitions.”
However, he became struck with an illness that trapped hormones in his
tonsils, and grew a bump on his neck and vocal cords. The bump prevented
him not only from singing, but properly talking in everyday life.
However, Yunho ignored his symptoms and worked through blood and tears
to debut as a member of TVXQ. But even after his debut, he faced
problems. He revealed, “After our debut, I was preparing for our
concert. But the area on my neck where I got surgery became problematic
again. I got infections in my neck, mouth, and nose, a total of 40-50
places. The company tried to prevent me from doing it, but I wanted to
do my best on stage. There was a great chance that my neck could become
worse, but I got on stage after numbing it.”
The full episode of ‘Do Dream’ and Yunho’s lecture will air on October 6th.

TVXQ’s Changmin used to suffer from an inferiority complex?
TVXQ‘s Changmin confessed he used to suffer from an inferiority complex.
Yunho shared his own story of almost giving up singing, and Changmin continued on the relay lecture with his own story. He explained that he had never had thoughts of becoming a singer, but he was cast while being spotted on the streets and asked to do an audition. He became an SM Entertainment trainee because of his mother, who wanted to see BoA. Changmin was rushed through the process, debuting shortly after becoming a trainee and he could not adjust to the flashy lifestyle. He was confused inside because metaphorically he felt like he was wearing clothes that didn’t fit him.
He finally decided that his life as a singer was worth it when he debuted in Japan and performed on a small stage. His fans’ bright smiles directed at him made him realize that he could give happiness to others, and he explained that was how a boy without a dream eventually earned one and became a singer.
