Thursday, November 22, 2012

South Korea's leading pop duo TVXQ is heading out for their first world tour. It took only three minutes for 25,000 eager fans to snatch up tickets for their first stop in Seoul.

TVXQ was originally a five-member boy band, but the group split after three members left. But U-know Yunho and Max remained and continue to keep the name TVXQ.

Max is looking forward to showing fans how much they've changed. SOUNDBITE: Max Changmin, tvxq, saying (Korean): "It's been about four years. I feel so bad that we made them wait so long. However, this is our first concert as a duo, with two of us performing throughout the entire concert, so we would love to show our performances which are more mature and have grown."

The K-pop duo still have a large following among much of the female Asian population -- most notably among Japanese housewives. TVXQ admits that K-pop sensation Psy's 'Gangnam Style' hit has helped boost popularity internationally of other Korean stars.

SOUNDBITE: Max Changmin, tvxq, saying (Korean): "I think generally Korean pop has been getting more attention since Psy's song was hugely loved. So I was thinking maybe I have to study English harder."

The next leg of the duo's world tour will be Hong Kong in early 2013.
